We ship via USPS Priority Mail for all orders, which takes 3-5 days within the U.S. You will receive a tracking number from USPS directly when your order ships from the studio. If you are interested in shipping out of the U.S., please contact us for a quote.
If you'd like to expedite your shipping or add delivery confirmation, please contact us prior to placing your order. All orders are packaged with the utmost care to make sure they arrive to you safe and sound in a timely manner.
CARE for Knives
Our Opinel knives have a carbon steel blade, which retains sharpness well, but will rust if left damp or wet. The beechwood handle is sealed with mineral oil and should be re-oiled after extended period of use, much like you would reseal a wooden cutting board.
1. Avoid leaving it in damp environments for too long.
2. Grease the metal parts regularly (mineral oil works well).
3. Dry the blade using a dry cloth after each use, otherwise it will rust.
Sharpening:
Use a fine-grain natural stone on a dry, degreased blade. As if you wanted to cut the stone, move the blade from the base towards the tip, at an angle of 18/20 degrees. A wide angle will thicken the cutting edge: it will be more resistant but less sharp. A small angle will thin the cutting edge: it will be less resistant but sharper.
A burr forms on the opposite side of the blade. Remove this by passing this side over the stone, without pressing. To finish off, pass both sides over the stone, twice.
